“Community” in the DNS or the DNA?

Long before DNS, our DNA ran the show. DNA tells us how to survive. We are programed to seek acceptance. Being part of a community, our needs – food, shelter, protection, finding a mate — are more likely to be met. Today, in cyberspace, our human traits are on display as we share our experiences and views through comments, tweets and blogs. We seek belonging through moments of sharing, and it’s reinforced by our community’s approval through numbers of “views” and the “like” button. Yes, new TLDs will change what we will find running in the DNS of the Internet, but our DNA remains the same, still calling the shots and telling us to engage in community.
