Early Warnings for Other Applicants
An Early Warning filed by the Czech Republic representative of the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) objected to three .green applications. There are no GAC Early Warnings issued against The DotGreen Community, Inc.’s application for .green.
Governments have identified sensitivities of the term “GREEN”. The GAC works to prioritize the Internet user, and preservation of Global Public Interest. GREEN is an internationalized term of utmost importance in all industries and for the global green economy. It is widely recognized by governments and their citizens that “Green” reflects how a business is run and much more with regards to sustainability. A .green registry operator of an environmental TLD is no exception, if it is to manage the .green domain name space in a responsible and trusted manner for the Public Interest. Regardless of the total number of .green applications, the GAC issued Early Warnings to three which did not demonstrate active involvement or business models in compliance with the term GREEN or with the Green Movement or global Green Economy.
Members of the GAC recognize that the registry operator of .green will have an impact on the global future of all people and our planet. It is of utmost importance that the GAC acts with in its construct to ensure an outcome of Global Public Interest for the Internet user and for ICANN’s new gTLD program, and because of the meaning and global importance of the term GREEN, actively seeks to avoid Detriment to the .green TLD.
